Lippia javanica has a long history of traditional uses in Africa as indigenous herbal tea or refreshing beverage, or food additive based on its perceived health and medicinal properties. Traditionally it has been used for the treatment of malaria, coughs and many other respiratory diseases.
Lippia javanica is rich in multiple classes of phytochemicals including volatile and non-volatile secondary metabolites, such as alkaloids, amino acids, flavonoids, iridoids, and triterpenes. It is a good source of minerals such as cadmium, calcium, chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, selenium, and zinc. Its phenolic content has several biological effects such as anti-inflammatory, bactericidal and antioxidant properties due to its ability to neutralise free radicals.
Our lippia javanica is harvested from the wild forests of Zimbabwe, sun dried and packed while fresh, with a pleasant, refreshing, minty, lemon-favour.
